Weight Loss Success Story #2
I spotted a pamphlet in a doctor’s waiting room on W8MD. This peeked my interest and I read on. “Are you tired of being overweight?” I was!
As I read further I discovered that not only was this a center for weight loss but also for sleep problems. My husband had told me that I was snoring very loudly at night and that it seemed I stopped breathing at times.
I called and scheduled an appointment with the doctor. Dr. Tumpati was very through in explaining to me the reason for my increased weight was due to insulin resistance. We also scheduled a sleep study and found that I stopped breathing an average of 38 times per hour due to sleep apnea!
I am now using a machine(CPAP) at night to assist with my breathing. I am experiencing more quality sleep and am not tired during the day. Dr. Tumpati explained that improper sleep can also lead to weight gain.
I began a 1000 calorie partial meal replacement program consisting of nutritional supplements as well as one meal daily – 4 oz of lean protien and a green vegetable.
In 12 weeks I have lost 26 pounds and am moving more freely and feeling better every day. I have a way to go but I know what I have to do to continue to successfully loose weight.

Hello my name is Elizabeth W. I am writing today to tell you about my experience with W8MD Weightloss Center.
I had been gaining weight for years and couldn’t figure out why this was happening because I have always been a small and petite woman. I was also tired all the time and had severely dry skin. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in 1999. I was put on meds to control this disease and probably will be on it the rest of my life.
By the time I was diagnosed, the weight had already gotten out of control and the food choices I made didn’t help either. Every time I went to the doctor he would ask me did I have any concerns and my concerns were always my weight and how tired I was. I guess after hearing me complain so much he decided I needed a sleep study done to determine if this was the reason for the weight gain and fatigue all the time.
I had the sleep study done at Poly Tech Sleep Services and it was determined that I didn’t have sleep apnea. I was pleased that I didn’t have sleep apnea but I was still concerned about my weight. Once I met with Dr. Prab Tumpati about the sleep study he explained to me that I might have insulin resistance and would I like to try a weight loss program that would not only help me lose weight but also help me to lower my cholesterol and to help prevent other medical issues in the future.
I agreed and started the weight loss program. I was nervous at first because every diet I have tried in the past I failed at it. This time I was determined to lose weight and hopefully keep it off. I was able to stick to the diet. I would drink shakes four times a day have a bar with lunch and a meat and veggie for dinner and drank plenty of water. I did this faithfully for 12 weeks and the weight just started falling off. I couldn’t believe it myself. People started to notice. My clothes were getting too big. I was so delighted I didn’t know what to do with myself. I weighed in once a week and met with the doctor once a month.
I lost in total 30 Lbs so far. None of the scales I weighed in on werethe same so I only went by the one I have at home and it was always a few pounds less than when I weighed in at the office. Of course I go by my scale at home, and it tells me I lost 30 POUNDS can you believe it! 30 POUNDS!
I am still a work in progress but I must say I feel good. I still have 20 more pounds to go before I reach my goal and I am trying it on my own without the shakes and bars. I have confidence that I can do it I want to thank Ms. Laura and Dr. Tumpati for all your help. I now make better food choices I have more energy and more self esteem because of W8MD Medical Weight Loss Center.

I am a 51 year old male with a little bit of a tummy and overweight by about 30 pounds. I was taking about 5 medications and all my doctors including my cardiologist at Temple University Hospital were after me to lose weight for the past few years. However, none of my doctors were able to spesifically guide me in losing weight other than tell me to “lose weight”. Having tried many things on my own, I decided to seek help from Dr. Tumpati in the North East Philadelphia Office.
Dr. Tumpati spent a lot of time explaining the metabolic risks associated with the belly fat and put me on a weight loss program with about 1000 calories a day. My name is Harry, and a little history up front might explain my enthusiasm. I am 63 years of age and still working in a physical capacity as a maintenance mech/tech, and my joints are noticeably pain free and I’m feeling more agile. Another plus is my sleep partner has commented I’m snoring less.
