GLP-1 meal plan
GLP-1 meal plan
A practical seven-day GLP-1 meal plan with protein-forward meals, shopping ideas, portion guidance and medical precautions.

A framework, not a rigid prescription
A GLP-1 meal plan should supply adequate protein, vegetables, fruit or other fiber sources, appropriate carbohydrates, healthy fats and fluids in portions the patient can tolerate. Calorie and protein needs vary substantially; this sample is educational and must be modified for diabetes, kidney disease, allergies, pregnancy, eating disorders and other conditions.
Seven-day sample menu
| Day | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner | Optional snack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Greek yogurt, berries, chia | Chicken and bean salad | Salmon, broccoli, quinoa | Cottage cheese |
| 2 | Egg and vegetable scramble | Lentil soup and side salad | Turkey meatballs, vegetables | Apple with peanut butter |
| 3 | Protein oatmeal | Tuna or chickpea lettuce wrap | Tofu stir-fry with brown rice | Edamame |
| 4 | Cottage cheese and fruit | Chicken vegetable soup | Shrimp, cauliflower and sweet potato | Plain yogurt |
| 5 | Protein smoothie | Turkey-avocado wrap | Baked cod, green beans, barley | Hummus and vegetables |
| 6 | Eggs and whole-grain toast | Greek chicken bowl | Lean chili with beans | Small protein shake |
| 7 | Overnight oats with yogurt | Leftover chili and salad | Roast chicken or tempeh, vegetables | Fruit and cheese |
How to portion meals
Start with the protein component, add vegetables, then include a modest portion of high-fiber carbohydrate and unsaturated fat as tolerated. Stop before uncomfortable fullness. Patients who cannot tolerate three meals may divide the same planned nutrition into four to six smaller eating opportunities.
Liquid calories can bypass fullness. Choose water, unsweetened drinks or clinician-directed oral rehydration instead of soda, juice and frequent specialty coffee drinks.

How W8MD can help
W8MD Weight Loss, Sleep & MedSpa provides physician-supervised medical weight management in Brooklyn, New York and Northeast Philadelphia, with telehealth when clinically and legally appropriate. Care may include medical evaluation, nutrition planning, body-composition monitoring, prescription medication, sleep evaluation and long-term maintenance.
When an FDA-approved medication is medically appropriate and a plan provides coverage, W8MD can review benefits and help submit prior-authorization documentation. Coverage and approval are determined by the insurer; no medication or result is guaranteed.
W8MD can convert this framework into calorie, protein and carbohydrate targets based on medical history, body composition, culture, budget and food tolerance. Follow-up addresses changing appetite during titration and the transition from active loss to maintenance.
Frequently asked questions
How many calories should a GLP-1 meal plan contain?
There is no universal number. Needs depend on size, age, activity, metabolic conditions and desired rate of loss.
Can this plan be vegetarian?
Yes. Use tofu, tempeh, beans, lentils, edamame, yogurt, eggs or other suitable proteins.
What if I cannot finish meals?
Reduce portion size and increase the number of eating opportunities. Persistent inability to meet fluid or nutrition needs requires a medication review.
