Chocolate is a sweet food made from roasted and ground cocoa beans. While chocolate can be high in calories and sugar, it also contains flavonoids, which are plant-based antioxidants that have been linked to potential health benefits such as improving heart health and reducing inflammation. Dark chocolate with a higher percentage of cocoa solids may have more health benefits than milk chocolate, which is typically higher in sugar and calories. As with any food, moderation is key when consuming chocolate.
