Is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels. Blood pressure, when not otherwise specified, typically refers to the pressure in the large arteries of the systemic circulation. Blood pressure is typically measured in millimeters of mercury (mmhg), above the surrounding atmospheric pressure, and is expressed as systolic pressure over diastolic pressure.
