Arteriosclerosis
From W8MD weight loss and sleep centers
Arteriosclerosis is a medical condition in which the arteries in the body become thick and stiff, leading to decreased blood flow and increased risk of heart disease and stroke. It is caused by a buildup of plaque in the arteries, which can be influenced by factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking. Treatment options for arteriosclerosis include lifestyle changes like eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, as well as medications like statins to lower cholesterol levels. In severe cases, surgery or other invasive procedures may be necessary.
