Cetilistat is a medication used for weight loss that works by inhibiting the activity of pancreatic lipase, an enzyme that is responsible for breaking down fat in the digestive system. By inhibiting the activity of pancreatic lipase, cetilistat prevents the absorption of some of the fat consumed in the diet, leading to a reduction in calorie intake and weight loss. Cetilistat is not currently approved for use in the United States but is available in other countries for the treatment of obesity.
