Obesity hypoventilation syndrome (ohs) is a condition in which excess body fat interferes with normal breathing patterns, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels during sleep. This can result in difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, as well as excessive daytime sleepiness. Ohs is often seen in individuals with obesity, and can also be caused by other factors, such as sleep apnea. Polysomnographic technologists can help diagnose ohs by conducting sleep studies and evaluating the individual's breathing patterns during sleep.
