Swollen salivary glands, or sialadenitis, can occur as a result of a variety of factors, including infection, dehydration, and certain medical conditions such as mumps. Treatment for swollen salivary glands may include managing underlying causes, such as infection or dehydration, as well as using warm compresses and over-the-counter pain medications to reduce pain and inflammation. In some cases, antibiotics or other medical interventions may be necessary.
