Central hypoventilation syndrome (chs) is a condition in which the body's normal breathing patterns are disrupted during sleep, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels. This can result in difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, as well as excessive daytime sleepiness. Chs is most commonly seen in individuals with neurological conditions, such as spinal cord injuries or brainstem lesions, and can also be caused by other factors, such as obesity or sleep apnea.
