Bright light therapy is a treatment that involves exposure to bright artificial light to help regulate the body's circadian rhythm. It is commonly used to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a type of depression that is related to changes in the seasons. Bright light therapy involves sitting in front of a light box for a specified amount of time each day. The light box emits bright, white light that simulates natural outdoor light. Bright light therapy can also be used to treat sleep disorders, jet lag, and other conditions related to the circadian rhythm.
