Upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) is a condition in which the upper airway becomes partially obstructed during sleep, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels and difficulty breathing. This can result in difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, as well as excessive daytime sleepiness. UARS is often seen in individuals with obesity or a family history of sleep apnea, and can also be caused by other factors, such as nasal congestion or alcohol consumption.
