Carbohydrate counting is a dietary approach used by people with diabetes to manage their blood sugar levels. It involves monitoring the amount of carbohydrates consumed in each meal and adjusting insulin doses accordingly. Carbohydrates are an important source of energy for the body, but they can cause blood sugar levels to rise quickly if consumed in excess. By counting the amount of carbohydrates in each meal, people with diabetes can better control their blood sugar levels and prevent complications associated with high blood sugar.
