The western pattern diet (wpd) is a type of dietary pattern that is characterized by the consumption of high amounts of processed and red meats, refined grains, high-fat dairy products, and foods that are high in sugar and unhealthy fats, such as fried foods, snack foods, and sweets. The wpd is associated with an increased risk of chronic health conditions, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. It is important to note that the wpd is prevalent in many western countries, and may be contributing to the rise of chronic health conditions in these populations. To improve health and reduce the risk of chronic health conditions, it is recommended to consume a balanced diet that includes a variety of whole, nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
